Our Masonry Work

Masonry Work on Exterior Surfaces

Masonry work at American Force General Construction covers repair, restoration, and new stone installation. The work sits on exterior surfaces: front steps, retaining walls, facades, walkways, and stone details around entrances. Houses, offices, retail spaces, and apartment buildings all qualify.

Masonry fails slowly. A hairline crack takes on water, freezes, and opens a little more every winter until the joint gives out. Catching it at the crack stage is the difference between a repointing job and a full rebuild later.

Sub-Services

What Our Masonry Services Cover

5 masonry sub-services under one contract, handled by the same crew from inspection through the final cleanup.

01

Masonry Repair in New Jersey

Masonry repair on cracked joints, loose stone, spalling surfaces, and sections that shifted. Repair means removing the failed material and rebuilding that section, not smearing mortar over it. Most masonry repair starts as a joint problem and turns structural if it waits.

02

Exterior Masonry Repair in New Jersey

Exterior masonry repair on surfaces that take rain, road salt, and freeze cycles. Front steps, porch landings, retaining walls, and foundation faces sit lowest and take the most water. Water that gets into an exterior wall does not dry out, it freezes.

03

Stonework in New Jersey

Stonework on facades, columns, entrances, garden walls, and other exterior details. Fitting stone is slower than laying block, because every piece has to sit where it lands. Good stonework reads as part of the building, not as something applied to it later.

04

Stone Installation in New Jersey

Stone installation starts below the surface, with a base that will not shift. Base preparation, drainage, setting bed, and joint work all happen before the stone looks like anything. Stone set on a bad base moves, and moving stone opens every joint.

05

Masonry Restoration in New Jersey

Masonry restoration brings an older surface back instead of replacing it entirely. Matching the original stone, the joint width, and the mortar color is most of the work. A restoration that does not match reads worse than the damage it covered up.

Our Process

How a Masonry Project Runs

Four steps from the first phone call to the final cleanup — no surprises, no guesswork.

01

Onsite Assessment

Someone walks the work area, checks the existing stone or brick, and documents what needs rebuilding.

02

Written Estimate

Full scope, materials, unit prices, and total go on paper before any work starts.

03

Prep and Demo

Damaged sections come out carefully, the base gets prepared, and materials are staged on site.

04

Build and Finish

Stone or brick goes in with proper mortar joints, cured properly, and the site gets cleared.

Why Us

Why Choose American Force for Masonry

Cause Before Repair

A rebuilt wall fails again if the water that broke it is still finding its way back in.

Matched Not Patched

Mortar color and joint width get matched, because a mismatched patch is visible from the street for years.

Structural Not Cosmetic

We say when a section needs rebuilding instead of patching, even when patching would be the easier sale.

FAQ

Masonry Questions We Get Often

Q1 How much does masonry repair cost?

It depends on how deep the damage goes. A joint problem and a section that's shifted are two different jobs. We won't price it until someone has looked at the wall in person first.

Q2 Can you match my existing stone?

Usually, though older stone takes some searching. Mortar color is the harder part, since it fades over decades. We mix to match what's there now, not what it looked like when it was new.

Q3 Why do my front steps keep cracking?

Water, almost always. It gets into a joint, freezes, expands, and pushes the stone apart a little more each winter. Fixing the crack without fixing the water just buys you another season or two.

Q4 Is this a repair or a full rebuild?

The inspection answers that one. If the damage sits in the joints and the units are sound, it's a repair. Once the units themselves are breaking down, rebuilding that section is the honest call.

Q5 Can masonry work happen in winter?

Mortar needs temperature to cure, so deep winter isn't ideal for a rebuild. Small repairs can happen year round. We'll tell you when waiting for spring is the better move for the whole wall.

Q6 How long will the repair hold?

That comes down to whether the water problem got solved. A rebuilt section with drainage handled holds for a long time. The same section with water still running behind it won't last very long.
